ICE Cubes is an end-to-end service providing fast, easy and reliable access to space. Since the installation of the ICE Cubes Facility on the station in 2018, the service have been used by a variety of customers from around the world, producing numerous scientific, educational and artistic results. Click here to see examples of use as well as areas that benefit from microgravity environment.
The ICE Cubes Facility is, so to speak, a test-bed and a playground, an in-space laboratory for microgravity research, equipped with electrical outlets, standard interfaces and Wi-Fi, hosted inside Columbus, the ESA module of the ISS. The ICE Cubes facility can accommodate payloads, modules and instruments of different shapes and sizes (~up to 38 (W) x 28 (H) x 58 (D) cm). The experiment cubes/modules are built for easy “Plug & Play" inside the ICE Cubes Facility or can be adapted to be mounted external to the facility, according to your requirements.
In addition, the AI-Box and Media Set can be used either separately or combination with other ICE Cubes payloads, to enhance the possibilities inside the station.
The ICE Cubes Service was initiated by Space Applications Services, an independent Belgian company established in 1987, with a subsidiary in Houston, USA, called Aerospace Applications North America.
